invitation to guest lecture with thomas s. popkewitz at aalborg university
CfU is pleased to invite interested parties to an open guest lecture with estemeed curriculum theorist Thomas S. Popkewitz from Wisconsin-Madison University in the US.
THOMAS S. POPKEWITZ LECTURE IS TITLED: "INTERNATIONAL ASSESSMENTS: PISA AND THE PARADOXES OF MODELS OF CHANGE THAT CONSERVE"
Mr. Popkewitz' lecture focuses on the paradoxes of PISA. Its measures of science and mathematics are formed as a chimera, a fiction about science and mathematics that is perceived as real and dazzling but is imaginative, implausible in its stated object of teaching. The argument is historical and about the “reason” of PISA organising the measures.
Mr. Popkewitz is in Denmark due to his involvement in the project "Education Access under the Reign of Testing and Inclusion" with several international scholars including primary investigator Christian Ydesen from Centre for Education Policy Research.
The lecture takes place at: Aalborg University, the Auditorium at Rendsburggade 14, 9000 Aalborg, 14:30-16:00
To sign up for the lecture and help ensure we have sufficient beverages for the reception, please e-mail research assistant Nanna Ramsing Enemark at firstname.lastname@example.org.
